🎯 Why we exist

We're on a mission to modernize America's safety net, and we're starting with Guaranteed Income. To do it, we're converting our members' annual tax credits, providing up to $500 per month per family, to spend on whatever's most important. We'll know we're successful when every working person has the support network to navigate life's inevitable challenges.

πŸš€ Who we are

Our founders (ex-Apple, BlueVine; ex-Affirm, Square, Google) are passionate about delivering need- and incentive-aligned benefits to working people.

Our world-class investors, Maverick Ventures and Caffeinated Capital, are aligned to our policy objectives and platform vision.

We're headquartered in New York City, with a flexible approach to remote work.

Comity members are working class Americans, in large part people of color and single mothers. We’re firmly committed to building an organization that matches the demographics of those we serve by seeking out candidates from groups that are historically underrepresented in the tech industry. We celebrate individual and shared experiences, and we aim to ensure everyone working at Comity can thrive.

πŸ‘₯ We're in good company

Visionary local leaders like Michael Tubbs have tapped into private donor networks to fund Guaranteed Income pilots of varying sizes, with demonstrable success. In Stockton, 80% of funds were spent on essential items (food, utilities, home goods and clothes, auto costs).

However, with an annual cost of around $4,000 per family, these programs have not yet scaled beyond private donor networks.

At Comity, we're creating the first nationwide Guaranteed Income program, by tapping into existing tax policy, and facilitating the benefit at a cost of around $150 per family per year.

⭐ Our principles

We're communitarian. We think long term and we're careful to match our incentives with our members individually and with our community as a whole.

We're brave. We take action and accept responsibility and accountability.

We're optimists. We know failure often follows self-doubt or fear.

We do the right work. We ruthlessly prioritize in order to drive the most possible impact.

We build trust by recognizing the gap between empathy and sympathy.

We have a sober understanding of chance in life circumstance.
